Frequently asked questions
What VeriViva does, what it deliberately doesn't do, and how to get involved.
What is VeriViva?
VeriViva is a knowledge assurance platform for regulated operations. It verifies that the people doing safety-critical work can explain and apply your approved controls, and gives reviewers the evidence. A named person is always responsible for the overall Viva decision. VeriViva drafts suggested measures; it does not make the judgement.
Who is it for?
Operators who carry regulatory risk and need to show their people know the controls. We're starting with property, facilities and building-safety teams, followed by hospitality, regulated retail, and education and assessment support.
How is this different from our training records?
Training records show that someone completed a course. VeriViva checks whether they can explain and apply the procedure for their site: the right first action, why, who to tell and what to record. The gap between the two is the risk.
Does VeriViva decide whether someone is competent?
No. A named person is always responsible for the overall Viva decision. VeriViva drafts a suggested measure for each response and the reviewer accepts or changes it; with Review exceptions, clean high-confidence drafts are accepted automatically and marked. VeriViva never changes or implies a change to anyone's employment, pay, progression, registration or right to practise, and never starts a disciplinary process.
Does it analyse faces, voices or emotions?
No. Assessment is on content only. There is no facial, emotion, accent or honesty analysis, and confidence, fluency and appearance are never treated as evidence. An assessor-led route and reasonable adjustments are built in.
What happens when our procedures change?
Upload the revised document. Replacing a file keeps its history, and each question set records the exact file it was made from, so you can see which file a viva was based on.
Who asks the questions?
You choose. A viva can be guided by VeriViva, where a voice guide asks only the approved questions, or assessor-led, where your assessor records typed responses with the person. Whichever you use, the evidence, provenance and audit trail are the same.
Does VeriViva tell us what the law requires?
No. Questions are grounded in your own approved procedures and the requirements you identify. VeriViva doesn't substitute generic guidance or give legal advice, and your accountable leads stay responsible for compliance decisions.
How is data handled?
VeriViva is being designed around UK data residency, GDPR-aware processing and recognised security good practice, with role-based access and an audit trail. People consent before a viva starts and can withdraw consent later, and role-based access limits who sees the evidence. VeriViva is pre-launch, and this describes the posture it is being built to, not a certification.
